Paul Morton MD, Chief Operating Officer, UC Division

Dr. Morton’s formal education includes undergraduate work at the United States Air Force Academy where he graduated 2nd in a class of 987 and served as the Group Commander for 1100 cadets. Dr. Morton continued his pursuit of excellence by graduating in the top 20 percent of his medical school class at Dartmouth Medical School and successfully completing an Emergency Medicine residency at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a fully qualified Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Morton previously served 20 years in the United States Air Force, including positions as the Medical Operations Squadron Commander at Buckley AFB in 2010-11 and the Director for the Emergency Department/Acute Care Clinic at the US Air Force Academy Hospital from 2005-2008. In 2003, Dr. Morton oversaw the transition of the Emergency Department at Sheppard AFB to an Urgent Care Center as a result of Congress’ Base Realignment and Closure just prior to his appointment to the Academy. During his Air Force career, Dr. Morton also distinguished himself through two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal three times, including one for heroism in Iraq in 2005, and was awarded the Air Commendation Medal for heroism in 2007 and the Joint Commendation Medal in 2008 for his work with Special Forces in Afghanistan.

In addition to his full time position with the Air Force until 2011, Dr. Morton was a staff physician with the Centura Hospital system where he worked in the Emergency Departments at the Porter, Littleton, and Parker Adventist Hospitals on a part-time basis from 2004-2009.

Dr. Morton continues to see patients in the clinic when not directing operations for the organization. In addition, since founding OnPoint he has served as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the Colorado Air National Guard (COANG) at Buckley Air Force Base in Denver. He is a Colonel (select) and has attained the second highest ranking medical position in the State. Under his direct leadership, the 140th Medical Group received the highest compliance rating during their Unit Effectiveness Inspection in May 2016.
